WRC approval should require a bike path

Should the Princeton Regional Planning Board approve the Westerly Road Church development plan with conditions, I hope that one condition will be construction of a bike and pedestrian path along the property’s frontage on Bunn Drive and Herrontown Road. This would enhance the ability of people to get to the church without using a car and would enhance the safety and quality of life of the neighbors.
So far, the development plan includes only a short extension of the Bunn Drive walkway. Yet, people living to the north and northeast of the proposed development site have testified to the present difficulty of walking/biking/jogging along Herrontown Road. These difficulties will be aggravated by the increase of Sunday traffic to the development site.
The Planning Board has previously required paths along roads fronting developments. Examples include part of the Great Road, Cherry Hill Road, Bunn Drive, and the east end of Ridgeview Road.
It is fair and reasonable to require the church to build a walkway along its roadway frontage.
